I’m thrilled to be joining NumberClub as the new Head of Community Engagement! I’d like to take this chance to introduce myself and share a bit about what brings me here.

I've been a huge fan of Stick & Split since discovering it during the 2020 lockdown. When I heard David was looking for someone to help make mathematics learning accessible and enjoyable by bringing even more brilliant games to life, I knew I had to get involved. I love how these games combine meaningful practice with spatial reasoning and visual representations, helping learners truly grasp concepts. It's about deep mathematical thinking, the right balance of support and challenge, and making learning memorable and fun for everyone.

I've spent over twenty years in education as a teacher, mathematics specialist, school leader, and most recently as a School Improvement Specialist and Senior Lecturer in Primary Mathematics at the University of Chichester. I've worked with hundreds of teachers, mathematics leaders, headteachers, parents, academics, researchers and, of course, children! I've also been involved with national networks like the NCETM working groups and the Teaching mathematics for Social Justice Network, and co-authored two books on mathematics teaching. In July 2024, I completed my Doctorate in Education at the University of Reading, where my research explored how mathematics teaching is evaluated in primary schools. This experience deepened my understanding of different perspectives in education and reinforced my belief that mathematics teaching and learning is at its best when it’s inclusive, collaborative, and empowering.

I'm particularly passionate about valuing the expertise and wisdom of everyone in education. My favourite projects have been those where people come together - through podcasts, action-research groups, or setting up networks to share ideas and practice. Building strong, supportive, evidence-informed communities is what excites me most, and I can't wait to continue doing that here at NumberClub.
